From Kairi and Mareeba, Lakeshore Farms is all about doing one thing, and doing it really, really well: growing exceptional avocados.
Around 25 years ago, the team behind Lakeshore started digging (literally) into what it takes to grow the perfect avo. Fast-forward to today, and Lakeshore has not only mastered the art of growing but also built an entire ecosystem around quality, consistency, and supporting like-minded farmers.
With premium varieties under their belt, Matt & Louise Kleyn are passionate growers focused on growing high quality avocados for domestic and global markets.

From our state-of-the-art Pack Centre to our commitment to innovation and variety development, we’re constantly finding ways to raise the bar.
What do you love most about avocado growing?
It’s never boring! Avocados are a lifelong learning experience. Every season brings new insights, challenges, and good wins. Plus, seeing our fruit head out into cafes and restaurants across Australia is always rewarding.
Do you have a favourite avocado fact?
We love Shepard avocados, and did you know that the skin of the Shepard doesn’t change colour as it ripens, it always stays green, and the flesh doesn’t go brown when it is cut!? The best way to tell if they are ripe is to gently press around the stem end.
Favourite avocado dish you’ve eaten out (cafe/pub/QSR/restaurant)
I’m a big fan of the nachos at our local and, of course, I always order extra guacamole.
